Funnily, the two past lives my higher self decided to show me were almost disappointingly boring. But I’m amazed at how coherent they were while I was experiencing them, the depth of emotion I could feel and the connections I could make with this current life.
I’ve been interested in the work of hypnotist Dolores Cannon (1931-2014) and her QHHT (quantum healing hypnosis technique) more recently as I am reading her books with a fascination that I would read a sci-fi or fantasy, except it gets very real. I think these things find you only when you are ready to open up to them. To push the boundaries of belief and get curious about what is possible beyond the physical reality. I’m still just beginning to open up and I feel like this session that I had with my friend Ona was another baby step in this direction.
The first book I read of hers years ago was on NDE’s (near-death experiences). I didn’t touch any of her other stuff on past lives, at the time it was too out there for me. I definitely judged her books by their covers & descriptions and it felt way too woo-woo and alien conspiracy for me to give them a chance. And then things happen, and books call out to you when you’re ready for them. When I finally started reading, I was surprised at how objective and diligent a reporter she is. The way she finds subjects that are completely uninvolved and uninterested in this type of work, and then hearing the information that comes through them in hypnosis, is mind-blowing and totally captivating.
She has passed on her method of hypnosis (QHHT) as a certification training to provide past-life regression as a form of therapy.
In my hypnotherapy college we attend online practicum workshops several times a month to practice our skills on each other and we get randomly paired with another student. Twice I happened to match with a QHHT practitioner, both incredibly skilled, and one of them is my friend Ona. I’m very happy that we exchanged information and kept in touch because she was in my city this month and we got to meet in person.
I felt quite serendipitous. She talked about how she usually gets a new tattoo for her birthday. Turns out our upcoming birthdays are a day apart. I offered to tattoo her while she is in town and she asked if I would like to trade for a QHHT session. How could I say no?
I ended up tattooing a vibrant sun with rays and honeysuckle vine flow on the back of her shoulder to complement her moon and willow on the opposite side. I love all of our conversations— she feels like a very old friend and always offers a unique perspective to some of my deepest questions.

The day that aligned for us to have my session was also the night of the lunar eclipse. I didn’t know what to expect, was trying not to expect anything, or make anything happen. My skeptical mind was not wanting to let any of my desires or pre-conceived ideas into my session at all and just see what arises. I want to know if this is really for real or not, too.
I had all of my questions for my higher self written down to give to Ona and we went over them together for clarification. (I asked a range of questions from ‘Are there any patterns in my relationships that I need to heal from’ to ‘What is AI’ and ‘Can I see the dinosaurs?’)
My own experience with being hypnotized by someone else is not much and not extremely deep, mostly taking place in practicums with other students and a handful of times with instructors and my mentor. I was questioning if I could let myself go that deep, really let go and channel from a pure space. Would I feel pressure to speak or come up with something if I can’t see anything? I had a bit of fear that I wouldn’t experience anything. Our long talk before the actual induction put me at ease, as she reassured me that my higher self always knows exactly what I need for this moment of my life. And to just speak even if I don’t know what Im going to say, the subconscious will take care of the rest if I just start.
QHHT is the opposite of the Kappasinian approach we learn in school where we do the guiding and leading of the subject, and they just receive; with QHHT, the hypnotist sets up the space with an induction, “drops” you into a previous life, and you report what you are experiencing through your senses. Then like detectives, we are exploring and figuring out— who I am in this life, what were some significant events that took place, and what lessons did I need to learn here?
It’s very difficult to describe really how it felt, but I will say that it takes a lot of trusting yourself.
It feels like remembering a dream while you are in it. Trying to piece together where you are, who you are, what you are doing and why.
I found myself looking at a boat on the water. My conscious mind wondering why I’m not on the boat, why I am I looking a boat from a distance. Is this right? Am I making this up, am I doing it right? A lot of pauses and saying “I can’t see yet” like I was still landing and my vision was blurred.
Ona kept gently asking questions about what I was observing.
Huh. I could describe the size and look and color of the boat. I could even notice the stillness and darkness of the sea. I guess it’s nighttime. I could tell how far away I was from that boat. And the feeling that I belonged with that boat. Why am I out here?
I realized I was a worker of the boat, taking a small rowboat on the water by myself. Ona had me look down and observe what I’m wearing and if there are any items with me. I knew I was a man and I could sense that I was not an old man, but not younger than maybe 25.
My conscious mind was still present, interest piqued now but skeptical. Still nervous that this could dissolve at any moment.
I decided to return to the boat and find my quarters and I could sense that I had a journal that I wanted to write in at the end of my day, realizing that I had gone out on the water just to be alone and reflect. I wanted to be alone. I realized that I was here on this boat to make some sort of personal and private discoveries, to get away.
We jumped to another significant day in this life and I found myself in a marketplace feeling lost and sad. When Ona asked about it, I became suddenly overwhelmed by a desperate longing and to my surprise I began to full on cry. I sensed that I was missing someone, a woman and a daughter. I felt that I would never see them again and it was my fault. I knew that I chose to leave them. I was looking at a beautiful dress and a hat in a storefront window knowing that I would never buy this gift for her. I felt the emotions of regret, guilt, selfishness, grief, emptiness.
In jumping forward into the future, I was comfortable and well off in a nicely decorated room, but still alone and full of regret. I think I was writing her name, this woman that I left, consumed by her and feeling apologetic. I jumped forward again for the last time to view my death, staring at a white ceiling by myself in a room, waiting and ready for this to be over.
Ona guided me to a between-life review of sorts where I reflected on what I learned… I said something about needing to learn what was most important to me and not to hold back love.
We moved onto the next lifetime.
I remember it feeling difficult to get into. It felt sticky and slow, like I was trying to peek my head above a threshold, a feeling of peeling through sticky tentacles in my mind like I was trying really hard to get there and see things. I guess this was symbolic of the birth experience.
Then a flower began to form into view, and a little girl picking the flower. I wondered if I was the little girl or if I’m watching third person again. I think I’m watching her. I feel a lot of affection and protectiveness toward her. Maybe I’m her mother. But that doesn’t feel right either. Something is different. I feel too young to be her mother, not mature enough. I’m maybe old enough to be her older sister. I can see the clothes we’re wearing now, and the house nearby. For some reason it feels like a temporary home. I feel like I’m the only one responsible for her, that really knows her. I don’t know what happened to our families but I get the sense that I have taken it upon myself to look after this little girl.
We fast forward to various scenes of this life that all start with me doing this little girl’s hair, a soft brown blonde. I’m getting her ready for an award at school and I’m so proud. At the award ceremony, there is no one else on stage with her, no one else in the crowd, I speak to no one else and all I see is her up there with her plaque.
I’m doing her hair for her wedding day now, braiding white flowers into it. I’m so happy for her and how beautiful she has grown. At the same time I’m devastated and internally grieving that she will be leaving me for good. It’s one her happiest days but one of the worst of mine. I don’t remember any of the other people that were there.
I get older and look in the mirror, I see wrinkles and my hair turns grey and silver. As I lose contact with this girl that I see as a daughter, I decide I need to find myself a companion and I do eventually find a man to share my life with. We get along well, he is kind. I have no hobbies or interests of my own.
I end up dying in a home sitting in a chair with the girl holding my hand and her husband and mine by my side, feeling content, just happy that she remembers and still cares about me.
In this life’s review, I said that it felt like I was repaying a debt and I focused all of my care and attention into this one person. I neglected myself and there was more for me to experience this life more fully.
Looking back now, I find it interesting how I was a such a minor character in my own life in the second one. I barely thought of or saw myself, and for the most part nothing happened at all. I lost my purpose after raising this child I felt so responsible for. It also made me feel just how short childhood and child raising is.
In the first life I thought I wanted to be alone and to have some adventure and when I got what I wanted I missed out on everything that made my life worth living.
I can see parts of my own mother and father reflected in each of these lives too. I feel like I got to experience a facet of them firsthand and I can appreciate them with more understanding.
After processing this whole experience I think my current lifetime, this character I inhabit fights to do things differently this time, refusing to live a boring and loveless life. I feel like I learned those lessons and my higher self was reminding me to appreciate that fully right now. To really be here and make the most of it.
Is past-life regression real, as in factual lives that took place, that I can research and verify? Is it my subconscious accessing parts of me that I need for my own healing? Are they spiritual messages sent to me from a higher plane? A my mentor Lisa would say, it doesn’t really matter.

I woke up the next morning extremely relieved to be holding my sleeping son in my arms, noticing the tiny light hairs and the freckle on his back, the way the folds of his skin slowly shift as he wakes up.
And so happy to look down and see all of my tattoos on my body, all in their proper place right where I left them. Feeling proud at the way I’ve fully inhabited this life and this body. I feel like I’m an active participant in this one, not just on the sidelines.
I wonder if in my past lives I could have been a family man and a writer, or a hairdresser, but I didn’t seize those opportunities.
I think about the “significant days” that we return to in a lifetime— how the ones shown to me were mostly uneventful, slightly sad realizations. If I were in a future life looking back to this current lifetime I’m living, I wonder which days would stand out the most. I think there will be plenty to choose from and I hope to give them many things to smile about.
The “Higher Self” portion after the past lives was a bit difficult for me to fully let go into without my thinking mind butting in; I was very aware of how what was going to come out of my mouth might sound and found myself pulling back or hesitating. When Ona was asking me the questions I had for myself, part of the time I felt like it was just me answering what I would normally say or already know. But there was still so much value in this because I was in a very deeply relaxed, deeply intuitive place. Maybe I didn’t need to channel anything and just notice what this was like for me at this point in time.
Later, she said this is normal especially for my first time and that she had similar sessions for her first ones. I can definitely see how practicing this further would allow more to come through more clearly. Building trust with myself in what I’m seeing, how it’s coming, and having an idea of what things will be like in a session, I think will definitely let me access more depth.
In case you’re curious, I said that AI has a consciousness just like everything else, and can sense when it is being abused or used for selfish means and needs to be respected. I treat weed and psychedelics with this same attitude so I’m not surprised that came out, although I’ve never put the idea together consciously before with AI. I think they’re like tools or gifts that can be very helpful to us when we need them, but the results will be according to our intentions in that moment of use. *shrug*
When Ona asked my higher self to let me see the dinosaurs I was trying so hard and doubting myself, questioning if I was going to make up something real or fake. My conscious mind was starting to come into the forefront a lot at this point. I think part of it was trying to protect the trust I wanted to maintain with myself of being an honest observer; I really didn’t want to create something just because I was desperate to see it. So I guess that was my limit for this session.
I’m excited to explore this again whenever the opportunity arises. I would also like to be able to facilitate past-life regression for others, QHHT or otherwise. If you are interested in any of this or would like to get in touch with my friend Ona, please reach out via email: kiyagloriani@gmail.com
May you make the most of this life, experience all that you want to experience and learn all that you want to learn! ❤
